Many parents know the cost of going back to school can leave some families in dire financial circumstances, particularly if they are a large family with children of varying ages.

The Denmark Community’s Future Fund under the auspices of the WACF is an independent not for profit, created to assist our community and special interest groups throughout Denmark. The 2008 Voucher Program is the first initiative the DCFF is promoting.

50 Denmark families will benefit from the program with students able to exchange them for uniforms, school equipment and book list items at one of the three registered Denmark business outlets. Local Heroes, the Denmark High School Uniform Shop and Morrison’s Newsagency are all participating in the initiative for the first time this year.

2008 BACK TO SCHOOL BOOST THROUGH DENMARK COMMUNITY’S FUTURE FUND

Denmark families in need are set to benefit next year through the generous 2008 Back to School Program an initiative of the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR), the Sidney Myer Fund, VISY and the DOXA Youth Foundation.

A total of $2,500 is being granted through Western Australian Community Foundation (WACF) this year to areas of need within communities state-wide and the Denmark Community’s Future Fund will coordinate the distribution of the $50 vouchers in collaboration with local schools and relief organisations.

With recent research revealing average costs of more than $2000 per year to send a child to a primary school, the program is designed to support parents in funding those essential ‘back to school’ items needed to send their child to school. The support is in the form of vouchers which are valued at $50 each and can be spent on items from local Denmark businesses and Target stores.

Many parents know the cost of going back to school can leave some families in dire financial circumstances, particularly if they are a large family with children of varying ages.
